About Department

The Department of Humanities and Basic Sciences was established in 2001. It offers different foundational courses across various disciplines like Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry for the first year students of B. Tech Programmes. It also provides English Language and Communication Skill courses and different elective courses to the twelve B. Tech programmes of the institution.

The department offers quality education in line with the latest trends in teaching, learning and evaluation processes. It is supported with state-of-the art infrastructure and learning resources. The ICT-enabled classrooms, technologically-advanced laboratories and workshops, student-centric methods, and blended learning platforms help students carry out their academic pursuit with ease.

The department is capacitated with seventy-seven faculty members out of whom twenty are doctorates. The research activities like workshops, seminars, publications, invited lectures etc are carried out by the department regularly for the benefit of both the student and faculty communities. These activities help students get exposed to the latest trends in academia and industry.

The department also provides different co-curricular and extra-curricular platforms to the students with the aim of moulding them into better human beings and smart citizens of the country. Various cultural and competitive activities are organised regularly under the aegis of different clubs and cells. The students are motivated to participate the outreach programmes organised by the department in order to understand the real life situations of the society so that they can act for the upliftment of the underprivileged.

Additionally, the department is committed to enhance various employability skills like communicative skills, soft skills, reasoning skills and social skills.

The seventy-seven faculty members of the department are well-qualified and give emphasis on student-centric methods to impart their knowledge. The mentor-mentee system helps students solve their academic and personal issues with the help of their faculty members. We have state-of-the art facilities and learning resources to cater to the needs of the students.
